The Challenge

Representation matters.

Black athletes are highly visible across many sports. Black representation on the sidelines and in technical leadership does not always reflect that same diversity.

Our aim is not to ask organizations to select coaches because they are Black. Our aim is to help ensure qualified Black coaches are visible, connected and considered when opportunities arise.

01

Limited access to established coaching networks

03

Racial stereotyping, unconscious bias and tokenism

05

Limited access to high-performance environments

02

Fewer mentorship and advancement opportunities

04

Financial barriers to advanced certification

06

Difficulty getting the experience required for senior roles

“Talent alone does not always create opportunity.
Opportunity often begins with a connection.”

Coach Development

Invest in your development.

Great coaches never stop learning. The Network will promote education and development opportunities throughout BC and Canada.
